A New Beginning

It's been quite a while since I've posted anything here, life has been pretty crazy. I've graduated from college with a BS in Information Technology, gotten married to an amazing woman, been diagnosed with crohn's disease and had surgery to help with it. It's also been quite a while since I've written any hiaku. With everything that has been happening in my life finally starting to settle down a little, I thought it might be a good idea to start again. The first one is my feelings of a return to normalcy of day to day life, the second is inspired by the nostalgia of starting up a childhood game again, in a the new form of Pokemon GO ©.

A Return of Peace

The end of a storm,
The calming of an ocean,
The quieting pulse.

To Be the Very Best

Rustle in the grass,
A tense moment, the ball cast,
Gotta catch 'em all.

Hope you enjoyed them, comments are appreciated.

Snowfall Before Class

This Haiku was inspired by the snowfall I saw today right before one of my classes. This was one of the first snowfalls I had been able to see this year, and watching the snow fall is something I've always liked. hope you enjoy the Haiku.

Untitled

Falling, drifting, peace,
Tranquil contemplation, thoughts
Driven before snow.

As always, comments and title suggestions are appreciated. I have also put up a contact e-mail if anyone wishes to request a Haiku or just get in contact.

Before Class

This Haiku was one I came up with on a whim today. Got to class a little early and decided to borrow the whiteboard since no one was in the room. Well, here's the Haiku.

Untitled

Bitter, slicing wind,
Promise of a frozen world,
A warm hearth inside.

Hope you enjoyed it, comments and title suggestions are appreciated as always.

Crazy Life

It's been quite a while since my last Haiku post (I say 'Haiku post' since I had a post earlier today. Which you should check out. Seriously.) and I've been wanting to write some, but just haven't had the time. Life's been pretty crazy for the last month or so, got my wisdom teeth pulled over Christmas break from collage, one of my close friends became my girlfriend (extremely happy for that), and I started classes back up, which killed just about any free time I had. But, tonight I just happen to have a bit of free time. Found I had no homework, did my part to rally some opposition against SOPA and PIPA (I'm a rebel, I know), and my girlfriend doesn't wake up for a while (she works nights). So I figured now would be a good time to get some Haiku down. Just random, on the spot stuff so we'll see what happens.

Untitled

In darkness around,
Two small lights pierce the dark night,
Two hearts together.

Untitled

Unbroken routine,
Day by day, minutes tick by,
The monotony;

Dreams of greater things,
Of days and times long ago,
Pulling wanderlust;

Adventure is sought,
Yet never found, all repeats,
The endless cycle.

I believe that got a little out. Hope you enjoy them, and as always comments and title suggestions are appreciated.

On a side note, I am thinking of taking requests from anyone who would like Haiku written for any occasion they choose. These Haiku would be for you personally and would not be posted anywhere without consent, unless you post them yourself. I would ask in return that you consider donating a little using a donation button I would add (yes, this is referring to money. Shocker. I need to eat to you know). The amount would be totally up to the individual. Tell me what you think about this in the comment section.

SOPA and PIPA

This posting is not about my Haiku, but about two bills that our Congress will be voting on January 24th. These two bills, Stop Online Piracy Act and Protect IP Act, will give the Department of Justice  the authority to remove or block access to all or parts of a website that is "dedicated to infringement activities." These sites do not even need to proven to have been committing infringement under these Bills, but only need to be accused of committing copyright infringement. Actions may even be taken against the sites before the owner/operators of the site have a chance to defend the site in court. This is a big problem, as it is an infringement on our rights of Freedom of Speech under the First Amendment.

Think about this, any site that hosts copyrighted material without permission could shut down, which is an obvious conclusion, but also sites that also link to copyrighted material could be removed under these laws. All it takes is one video, song, or paragraph containing copyrighted material and that site can be accused of copyright infringement and removed. This would give the government and entertainment industry enormous power in censoring what is available to the public, and we would never know, because no reference to a site targeted by them would exist.

If you are for free and open use of the internet, contact your representatives in Congress and ask them to vote NO on H.R. 3261: Stop Online Piracy Act and S.968: Protect IP Act.

To view information on either Bill or read them in full, follow the links below:

You may also use either link to write a message to Congress letting them know you oppose these Bills, and ask that they not be passed. If you wish to call instead, follow the link below and choose your state and enter your zip code for your representatives contact information.

A Late Night...

This past week I've been feeling pretty tired, probably due to lots of homework and some big tests, and yet I find myself up again into the early morning hours. Strange huh? Oh well, I thought since I was up and there isn't much to do at 5:30 am, I could give some Haiku a shot. These will be some themes of whatever comes to mind, but computer themes will most likely be prevalent since I have been doing a lot with Artificial Intelligence programming and computer security. So here's my Haiku.

Untitled

Code scrolling slowly,
Thinking without human mind,
Virtual living.

Untitled

Cyber creation,
Digital synapses link,
Virtual playground.

Cracking

Code scrolling quickly,
Executing commands,
Cracking defenses;

Slipping in systems,
Gathering information,
Breaking down a life.

All right there we go. These actually took me a few days to write, though the ideas were all from the first day. Hope you enjoyed them, and as always comments are appreciated.

Passing the Time

I realized today that it's been a while since I wrote any Haiku, it's not that I've been busy, but I just haven't had the drive to write anything for a while. Plus school has been keeping me busy with homework and jobs on campus. Which happens to be what I'm waiting for now, one of my jobs as a math tutor. So since I had a little down time I thought I would get a few Haiku down. These are jst some on the spot Haiku, so I'm not sure how they'll turn out, but I'll give it a shot.

Untitled

Sinking softly down,
Red-orange fire burns across,
Slowly darkening;

Blue-black hues spreading,
Like a soft blanket pulled close,
Soft night lights brighten;

Time of reflection,
The days thoughts and joys swirling,
Settling, calming end.

I think that will be all for tonight, hopefully it will kind of get me into writing some more again. As always, comments are appreciated. And title suggestions wouldn't be bad either. Hope you enjoyed this Haiku.
