So... I haven't written anything for a while. I've been lacking some creativeness lately, which I am currently blaming on a massive math project and finals from the end of the semester. But, seeing as it's almost the end of the year, I figured I could give it a shot, and hopefully have a post up shortly after midnight on the first. Anyway, let's give this a shot shall we?
Night of the Hunter (Have to give credit for the inspiration of this. Listened to "Night of the Hunter" by 30 Seconds to Mars before writing this.)
Crouching high above,
A moonless night concealing,
The hunter descends;
A heavy impact,
Adrenaline coursing through,
The thrill of the kill;
A breath in silence,
A grin, a laugh to the sky,
Night of the hunter.
Okay, lack of sleep is definitely at a high right now, spell check saved my life through that Haiku... I believe that means this is going to be all for this post, and I need to head to bed. Comments appreciated.

Spur of the Moment
So this post is going to be a little different. There's not going to be any explanations about these haiku, because I'm writing them right now. That's right, completely new, fresh out of my mind haiku. I'm just going to pick a theme, and run with it. All right, let's get started.
Snowfall
Softly it falls now,
Gently drifting upon down,
Blanketing in white.
Untitled
Gentle humming sound,
Tap, tap, tapping upon keys,
Pouring out your thoughts.
Two Rooms
So close together,
Yet worlds apart, we sit here,
Behind our closed doors.
Okay that was fun. Might try to do this more often. As always, comments are appreciated.

Back at it
All right, so I'm back in college and have some time for this again. Summer was a bit hectic, but pretty good. Anyway, some haiku. First up, one I actually wrote less than 5 minutes ago. Just spur of the moment. So, yeah, I'd say theme for that would be freedom of imagination. Second and third one are actually similar. Second I wrote as a kind of... memory, I guess? Of when my girlfriend came out to visit this summer while my family and I were at the ocean. It was pretty exciting, considering we live like, 2000 miles apart. So yeah. third was shortly after she left, and the theme should be glaringly obvious.
Untitled
A blank page before,
Endless imagination,
A world all your own.
Untitled
Sand beneath our feet,
The sound of waves around us,
Wind tugging your hair;
Red sun in the sky,
As it sinks beneath the waves,
Our lips lightly brush.
Untitled
Far away from me,
To hold you within my arms,
To feel your presence;
To know you are there,
To lightly kiss your smile,
To hear your laughter;
To walk at your side,
To know I belong to you,
Dearly I wish for.
As a reminder, comments and suggestions for titles are appreciated.

After a long break...
It's been a while since I've had time to post anything. So here is a couple more Haiku. The first is one I wrote while I was kind of bored in class, and a friend happened to be sketching a character right next to me, so I decided to write a Haiku based on the sketch. The second is one I wrote in high school when my day was not going well, and it was just drenching rain outside.
Untitled
Dressed in sharp clothing,
Look of boredom pervading,
High roller working.
Lonely Rain
Rain falls silently,
Cascading down the treetop,
Watering the earth;
One stands in the rain,
Without a hat, without a coat,
Soaked down to the bone;
Miserably there,
Tears mixing with falling rain,
Lonely standing there;
Comfort not offered,
Isolated from the world,
From everyone;
Lost, fading away,
Silently, despairingly,
As the rain falls down.
As always, comments are appreciated.

The Warrior
This is one of the very first Haiku I ever wrote, and is also one of my favorites. I think I wrote it in 8th grade, but it may have been freshmen year in high school.
The Warrior
A blade stands unsheathed,
A warrior stands alone,
Faced with many foes;
Many battles ahead,
Blood soaked fields; homes in ruin,
The blade flashes forth;
Foes without number,
Comrades fallen in battle,
Strength begins to wane;
Hope not lost, but held;
Inner strength blooms forth anew,
Given for others;
Of those left alone,
Hope shared, and strength is given;
Hope held on a blade;
The hopes of others;
Loved ones resting on a blade
Refusing to fall;
Midst a forest, lost,
Among a flash of silver
Stained with blood of foes;
The warrior stands,
Not forgotten by loved ones,
But held in their hearts.

Three fairly recent Haiku
Okay, this first one is a recent one, and I'm not really sure what prompted me to write it. I was just sitting around and all of a sudden came up with it on the spot. So take it as you will. The second and third ones were written at the same time, also recently, and I was in a peaceful mood and I was falling asleep, but I needed to stay awake so I started writing, and this is what I came up with.
Solace (Title by Mary Stewart)
Heart walled in tightly,
Afraid to give it away,
A heart held so close;
You pass by the walls,
Like they never existed,
A friendship held close.
Silence (Title by Mary Stewart)
Covering darkness,
Gently drifting through the night,
Dreamless, resting, sleep.
Untitled
Gently flowing stream,
Breeze, softly blowing through leaves,
A place of quiet.
No titles for these ones, so please leave some suggestions if you have them.

Dreams
Okay, so this one that I wrote in my junior year of high school, I think. I don't really recall any particular inspiration for this Haiku, except I think I was daydreaming quite a bit that day. So any way, this is one of my favorites and it is kind of broken up oddly. The first stanza is broken apart by each line, because as I wrote it I realized each line could stand alone, yet is a part of the whole Haiku stanza.
Dreams
Where you wish you were,
Where your dreams
Become your world,
Your Sanctuary;
Where shadows stir not,
Darkness is held within light,
Light shines in the dark;
A sliver of light,
Suspended up high above,
Dreams draw to a close.
Please feel free to leave me comments on what you think of this one. Thanks!

Some Christian themes
These few Haiku I came up with while I was sitting in my college religion class. I was paying attention, mostly... Just with what we were discussing at the time sparked some thoughts on the subject and I decided to try a couple Haiku with the theme of God's grace. None of them have a title by the way so suggestions please?
Untitled
I go before thee,
Preparing a place for thee,
Knowing I love thee.
Untitled
To the LORD I hold,
Sanctuary found in Him,
Graciously granted.
Untitled
In times of trouble,
Call upon My Name in faith,
I will give you peace.
Some titles for these ones would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Local Minnesotan artist from the Twin Cities
Hey, just wanted to put a link to a friend's art site. She's a local artist from Minneapolis, MN and does a lot of sketches and drawing.
Her site is http://www.o-my-soul.net

Another couple Haiku....
These two I came up with randomly one day when I was having random bursts of energy and tiredness. I wrote them as kind of counters to each other while also reflecting how I was feeling that day. Both of these also have titles!
Adrenaline
Thoughts racing quickly,
Your memories colliding,
Quickening heartbeat.
Tranquility
Stillness all around,
Gentle music in your head,
Tranquil thoughts abound.
Personally I much prefer Tranquility.

The first actual post of Haiku!
Okay here's a couple of Haiku I came up with somewhere around Thanksgiving 2009, I think. It was at the first snowfall in Minnesota at my college, and I just wanted to write something about the snow. By the way it was the most snow I'd ever seen at one time in my life since I grew up in the state of Washington. So here they are.
Snowfall
Falling softly down,
Blanketing the world around,
Gently falling snow.
Untitled
Cold enveloping,
Snuggled warmly together,
Sharing a fireside.
Also these were the first two I wrote at college, and Snowfall is kind of a commemorative Haiku of my first semester at college, and my first real winter. Feel free to comment on what you think of them or title suggestions for the second one.

Formats of posts
Okay, just thought I'd throw in how posts are generally going to look.
Inside the post I'll probably put a comment or two about the Haiku if there is anything specific I want to say about it, then put the title if it has one. Most of mine don't have one, though suggestions for titles are appreciated. After that I'll put the Haiku verse, or verses if there's more than one. That'll probably be the end of each post unless I make another comment or put more than one Haiku per post.

First post and explanation
Hey all,
This blog is going to be for random Haiku that i like to write throughout my daily life. Just something to get them out for people other than myself to read. If you like them, feel free to comment on them, if you don't like them, go ahead and comment anyway. Feedback is always appreciated for improving my writing.
My Haiku's are not traditional, so they encompass lots of random subjects. Most usually aren't only a single stanza either, more like 2-3.
In your comments, please keep them appropriate and free of obscenity. Thank you for keeping it enjoyable for anyone to read!
First one will probably be up in the next day or so. And like I said feel free to comment on anything I write, and share this blog with whomever you'd like.
Thanks!
